The Apple!

“I’m oxidising!”

Squeals the apple in distress

"I'm an apple

Undressed!

Deep in distress

With only

everyone to impress."

"You won't bite me

If I brown

And rust in the open air."

laments, the apple

in despair

"So I seal and shiver

hoping the world will spare me

As you bare me

to the elements

of my own

undoing"

Sings the apple

in despair.

 "I sag and I sog

In the sticky June rain

And you?

You slice and sugar

to hide the pain. "

cries now,

the apple

in despair.

"Go ahead, bake an apple pie.

The mush we detest

slivers in caramel protest!

But go on, bake me

shake me!

just don't ever wake me"

Growls the apple

in despair.

The baker sighs

as the apple dies

Warm to the touch

To sweeten July.
